Polycom RealPresence Video Solutions Help Global Satellite Operator SES Bridge Cultural Barriers to Improve Collaboration and Slash Travel Costs
56 video conferencing rooms using Polycom HDX room systems, throughout 22 global locations, help reduce SES travel costs by approximately 60 percent
World-leading satellite operator SES, headquartered in Luxembourg, has implemented Polycom® RealPresence® video solutions across its global offices to bring people together face-to-face in high definition, for productive collaboration without the need for travel. With its fleet of 52 geostationary satellites and offices on all continents, SES uses video meetings to enable regional teams to cross cultural divides and work closely with customers to meet their specific satellite bandwidth and service requirements.
With over 1,300 skilled employees around the world and strong strategic interest to develop business in the emerging markets, SES needs strong communication tools, enabling teams to gather information and collaborate on documents live regardless of employees’ physical locations. Nearly half of all internal SES video conference calls today involve staff from more than five different locations; an efficient, reliable and secure high-definition multi-party video conference system is therefore key for the company in its day-to-day operations.
SES uses Polycom® RealPresence® Room video solutions (including the HDX® 8000), in 56 conference rooms throughout 22 different locations worldwide, enabling visual collaboration to become part of how the company conducts business daily. The company recently implemented a unified communications and collaboration solution for its global workforce powered on the Polycom® RealPresence® Platform and integrated with IBM Sametime® software, extending the HD video experience beyond the meeting room. As a result, SES employees can now simply join or schedule a secure video meeting from within the email and social business interfaces they are familiar with on their PCs and laptops, without the delays and expenses of travel.
